"This is a selection of oil portraits painted from about 2010 to 2014. ... an occasion to work out painting and drawing problems aided by the heightened, almost performative situation that arises from the artist versus model encounter. ... My usual practice was to invite interesting acquaintances to the studio and paint them from life. Some of these became regular models, and provided many hours of collaboration. Most of these were completed entirely from life in the presence of the sitter, though occasionally, photographs taken during the session were used to complete the piece."
