We've been photographing this household for three years now and its like I'm just watching their kid grow up. They live on the coolest street in Alameda, the one that transforms itself into a destination during the holidays, and we ran up and down it before heading back to their home to hang out in the yard.
1940's Hollywood Glamour-Style Portraits | Caroline
George Hurrell photographed the biggest names from Hollywood's golden period including Norma Shearer, Jean Harlow, and Judy Garland. I've been interested in the genre he epitomized and lucked out when Caroline came to me asking to have an in-studio session in this style.
We loved the results and Caroline ended up ordering a gorgeous and unique portrait book. Suzette Mariel, my favorite makeup artist and stylist who also works on movie sets, did an awesome job bringing out Caroline's best features while keeping to period looks. I got to explore a different tool set and approach. And I'm definitely interested in doing more shoots like this.
Armida and Brent Married! | Sonoma | Geyserville Inn
Armida and Brent got married at the Geyserville Inn in Sonoma... A rustic, outdoor, countryside setting in wine country. They were really great subjects and willing to go all out for their photos--even swimming in the pool during their day-after session! Here's a few of my faves from their wedding set...
Stacey and Jeffrey Married! | Embarcadero Hyatt | Conservatory of Flowers | San Francisco
It took place at this stunning venue in Golden Gate Park. The Conservatory of Flowers is unique with its botanical garden and thematic white exterior that lends itself particularly well to a wedding. A brisk but gorgeous day and we were able to do a lot of fashion shots on the Hyatt room balcony. At the flower-filled ceremony there were throngs of tourists watching on the sidelines. And at the reception I saw that they had used my engagement photos on their soda bottles; something I haven't seen but now have to try!
Highlights included Stacey's singing and dancing with the bridesmaids on backup, a number that merged into the couple's first dance. Man, I get the coolest clients.
Jeffrey being the gentleman and adjusting her dress after came in to see her for the first time.
Finding a quiet hidden corner in a busy part of Golden Gate Park is not easy... This is why we preview venues beforehand.
Closing it out with my signature Flying V reception shot...
Karen and Allan | Pescadero Beach Wedding | Pinot Noir Reception
Its been quite the year for them. And it was a long journey from their intimate ceremony on the beach, to their joyous celebration on the boat. Most of my client couples are non-traditional and more creative than most, but they wanted both their ceremony and reception party to be different. Here's a few singles of their highlights, followed by my slideshow...
Thanks again to the Commodore coordinators and captains for their help! www.commodoreevents.com/
Just added this gallery of images from various engagement sessions. These give me a chance to get to know my clients and photograph them in a telling context. Something like where they first met, what they like to do, and where they went to school or work at. (Most of these have been on my flash site but now added here to my html site to aid search engines.) Here's that: www.impactfolios.com/mauriceramirez/13332/index.htm
Aileen and Denny Engaged! | Fire Station #5 | Ferry Building
Aileen and Denny are getting married very soon! He fights fires, which is awesome. They love riding their beach cruisers together. We spent a sunny afternoon at the San Francisco Ferry building and riding around the Embarcadero waterfront. (Well, actually they rode and I ran behind them.) So their big day is this weekend so stay tuned...
Jenn and Noli Married! | Fairmont Hotel | St Dominic's | San Francisco
Jenn and Noli's day took place all around the city--It was like everyone got a tour of SF, starting from grandiose St. Dominic's, to the dramatic Presidio, back to Nob Hill and the always-incredible Fairmont Hotel. It was awesome. The day had a little bit of everything, even traditional Filipino dancers! And I love how all the guys really got into it, especially the Dads...
And of course, le Montage...
Thanks to the wonderful staff and coordinators at the San Francisco Fairmont:
Brandi and Gary are getting married very soon, are avid hikers, and love Yosemite as much I do. We went up there for their engagement session and it was SO worth it. Here's a few from that afternoon.
