Owner/Designer 

  •  Work with clients from initial concept to publication to meet their specific needs, focusing on the purpose, audience and content of the final product.
  • Craft sample layouts based on information provided by the client while adhering to and energizing established corporate brand guidelines.
  • Redesign DMS Alumni News & Notes newsletter to transition standard elements to the web while introducing new elements designed to increase web traffic. 
  • Currently creating an hierarchy of publication templates ranging from issue briefs and white papers to technical and philanthropic reports. 
  • Investigate printing options and gather quotes for review and selection.
  • Prepare press-ready files and track production of final product with selected vendor.
  • Archive all work and provide ongoing support on an as-needed basis for completed projects.

2002 – 2008
Production Coordinator

  • Was responsible for the creative development, design and production of products related to institutional campaigns, departmental programs and ongoing internal and community communications. 
  • Negotiated and followed through with vendors and internal clients to ensure timely completion of projects. 
  • Established and maintained a searchable digital archive of institutional images, text, graphics and publications. Developed and launched a web site to allow institution-wide access to digital assets.
  • Provided day-to-day management and periodic system upgrades of client- and web-based digital archive.
  • Acquired and prioritized material for internal newsletters. 
  • Wrote, designed and edited newsletters for electronic and print publication. 
  • Maintained departmental Intranet and Internet sites. Was department liason to Information Services.  

The Burlington Free Press, Burlington, VT
1997 – 1999
Copy Editor

  • Acquired and prioritized newsworthy materials as well as edited for content, flow, grammar and accuracy. 
  • Wrote accurate headlines that captured the most important point of the article and fit the allotted space. 
  • Used proprietary software and layout coding to design interior pages and supplements—Outdoor Living supplement, college and high school sports pages, editorial pages, business pages and A2.  
  • Adapted to frequent last-minute changes under high-pressure deadlines. 

Freelance Photography and Writing 
1993 – 2004

Photographer

Worked on location with athletes to develop high-profile images for catalogs and print advertisements. Collaborated with individuals and couples to produce environmental and candid portraits that reflect the nuances of their personalities.  

Clients: Cannondale Corporation, Rossignol Snowboards, K2 Corporation, Flite Snowboards 

 

Writer

Wrote feature articles on topics of local interest. Created and maintained a database of local event sponsors. Gathered material and wrote quarterly calendar. Wrote 300-word articles highlighting specific community events.
