HeroForce

Life and Death of a Facebook Game: HeroForce is Kabam's first RPG game on Facebook. It was launched in Nov 2010 and was combining asthonishing Art, Animation, Shop, Inventory and sophisticated PvP system.

The game did not monetized well and only stayed online 5 months before being shutdown.
I spent a great deal of time designing the game architecture, and the component used for both PVE and PVP battles, as well as Avatar customization. All imagery and animations were created by Kabam Artists and Animators.
Cool stuff!

Sweet World

Well, I am excited to see Sweet World, a casual social game, finally live on Facebook!

This is the first multiplayer Flash based online game that I worked on and... it's pretty cool looking! (Thanks Amie Chan and Somer Loen for the great Art Work!)

Check it out!

The game has more than 330,000 monthly active players yet and more than 65,000 fans!
Amazing and quite rewarding!

There is more to come! Stay tuned!

Trainer1

We recently completed a new initiative for Nike, which I am very proud off.
Here's the link:

Air Trainer 1

That was quite a collaborative work and the result is astonishing (I think).

New exciting stuff

Well, the last 3 months have been quite challenging and interesting!

New job, new creative environment, new perspectives.

Here's an example of the new work that I do for Nike as part of the R/GA team. I love it!

Jonas and the Island

I came up with these few seconds of animation last Fall, as part of a project for my modeling and animation class at the Academy of Art. The modeling of the flying boat was very exciting, especially while searching for the right textures. I am actually quite happy of the result.

Modeling the sailor came with various challenges. I had a hard time modeling the face and this part would rank high in my list of todos for next revision. More facial expressions would make quite a difference too.

In the original storyline, the sailboat was flying over an endless ocean. The island was kind of conventional. But this looked too trivial and did not take advantage of the great concept of the flying boat. So, I wondered: "Wouldn't it be nice to have a flying island as well?"  And I came up with this hybrid object, half island, half spaceship. (I am also a big fan of Hayao Miyazaki ;-)

Finally, something had to happen in that story. Life would be boring without a few challenges.
I added some oversized accessories on the island (meant to inform the viewer that someone, something, was indeed around... maybe). And I also added... huh... sorry can't tell you now, just watch the video...

The music was added at the last minute and is probably not the most appropriate. I am still searching for a better match. However, I had lots of fun while working with sound effects. The internet is great for that.

What you'll see below is my first minute of 3D animation with Maya. We are still a long way towards Pixar standards, but I'd say, it's a good start :-)

D.

Playing with After Effects

Happy New Year everyone!

Let's start the good resolutions for this year with a new blog, which will help me to provide more consistent feedback on the various art projects that I work on.

The video below is an experiment that I did with  After Effects. It's unbelievable the amount of time that can be spent on these little things.

The other interesting side of the post is that it illustrates what I do during my daytime at Veodia. I am part of the team who built the player widget below and the technology to bring video content in your browser.

Pretty cool, isn't it?
