The Artist

I've taken up painting only in the last couple of years, beginning with landscapes and still life paintings in oil, but quickly transitioned to dry and water media.  I have a fresh approach, sense of enthusiasm, and perspective.  I love painting and I think it comes through in the quality and quantity of my work.

I paint in a variety of styles and my subjects range from landscapes to abstracts and everything in between.  When it comes to technique, composition, or life in general, I have never been an enthusiastic follower of convention.  The thing I like most about being an artist is that really great art can be made with a complete disregard for the rules.

The majority of my paintings are watermedia on paper.  Completed paintings are treated with an encaustic varnish which locks the pigments in place and provides excellent protection from stains and water damage.  This method allows me to frame my paintings as if they were oils or acrylics, without glass or mat.

At the moment I am working in a style that resembles a mosaic or stained glass.  You can find it in the 2010 gallery.  I think it may be the unique voice I've been looking for.  I hope you enjoy it.

The Builder

In addition to commercial contracting, I've been building ponds, and other hardscapes for better than a decade and it is my passion outside of being an artist.  I enjoy taking an average space and making it extraordinary and functional with the introduction of stone, wood, water, and other natural materials.  Whether you simply want to make a wet or lifeless part of your yard more functional or want a grand pool for your prize koi, I can help.

Recently, I've started building custom shelves, lofts, furnature, etc., and if you have any spaces inside your home that could use a one of a kind touch you are welcome to make an appointment for me to visit your home or for you to visit my newly renovated home and see what I can do first hand or check out my latest work in progress.  I always welcome a challenge and the opportunity to be creative.
