I capture natural themes in beeswax. Sweeping views, earthy colors, plowed fields, Zen gardens fit well with the smell and sensuous feel of the organic materials I use to create.
Beeswax, tree resin, dirt, seeds and reeds remind me of my childhood spent mostly outdoors under the broad Midwestern sky and allow me to play as I once did in the garden dirt and open fields.
The process of digging into wax, adding and removing layers, often feels like archeology. I can peer into my past and also into the pioneers and others who sustained themselves cultivating the land.
